JKIA fire A blessing in disguise?

Your entry or/exit gives you 2 Very Major Important opportunities:
1. Entry/entrance gives you a first and lasting impression of what to expect to experience ahead
2. An exit stamps an everlasting image of where you’ve just left determining if you’d like to experience it again!

This fire gave Kenya a blank cleared space to rebuild their entrance/exit with the future in mind.
1) As a branding point for The African Experience ie this is the gate into Africa – Do I have an aye from Taxi companies, hotels, tours, brand Kenya, Tourism board, hospitality industry and the branding fraternity?
2) An opportunity to modernize/ AUTOMATE the emergency fire systems!  from smoke detectors, to fire alarms, fire sprinklers, emergency exit systems and medical standby systems!
– suppliers, medical practitioners/providers
3) The entry/waiting bay needed redesign to accommodate envisioned increased numbers taking into account increased  flow of users over next 20+years to the modern train exit, public parking, and private jet users that may rise with the countries growth.
4)  Opportunity to create new systems to deal with modern day crimes and security – continued roll overs and re-evaluations systems.
5) Waiting bay that’s futuristic to needs of a connection hub eg how do we handle passenger’s connecting flights hours apart but don’t have entry visas? Where do they wait, eat, clean up and/or rest? Systems for handling them also in case of emergencies and foul weather!
6) How do we differenciate our airport from one in Europe or another African country so that when anyone mentions Africa the next question is have you been through JKIA? not a copy of “a modern airport” but unique Airport people want to transit through both in structure (uniquely African), and experience (African hospitality)
7) Lastly an accommodation tower (ie hotel) above terminal can be useful in making it a transit choice airport for Africa as it generates income for improvement /modernization of Airport over the coming years.
A food court with multiple providers of ALL types of dishes be they local, orient, fast foods, European …
What’s your take?

*If Eastern Africa can Accommodate 2 connection hubs, have we been thinking small on potential business??
